Dr. Barbara Bond is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with more than 15 years of experience in a variety of clinical settings. Currently, she practices at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley California, part of the Sutter Hospital system. Dr. Bond has served as the Chair for Sutter’s Emergency Medicine Leadership group for the past six years as well as a clinician lead for Sutter’s COVID Clinical Advisory Groups. She also serves as a subject matter expert for Sutter’s Emergency Preparedness Group.
Dr. Bond is passionate about quality patient care and efficient hospital operations. She helped develop an overcapacity scoring system and surge plan for Sutter system hospitals with system-wide implementation. Dr. Bond is the prior medical director, operations director, and emergency medicine department chair for Eden Emergency Medical group and lead for the local hospital throughput team.
Dr. Bond has front-line experience with the complexities of hospital operations as well as those of healthcare systems. She was one of a small cohort of Eden Hospital clinician leaders fully trained in Lean Methodology and has participated in numerous process improvement projects. Dr. Bond is a strong proponent of a data-driven approach to problem-solving and has helped to develop several data tools to improve Emergency Department operations and hospital throughput for the Sutter system.
Prior to Dr. Bond’s tenure in healthcare, she worked in immunology and cancer research at the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center. Dr. Bond earned a B.A. from Reed College in Portland Oregon, and an M.D. from the University of California, Davis Medical School. She completed her residency training at Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland California and lives in Alameda California with her wife, Karie, and one daughter at home, with another daughter in college.
